How does Exothermic Welding Mould work?

In many industries such as electricity, communications, and construction, high-quality electrical connections are important. To achieve this goal, engineers have adopted an efficient and reliable connection technology - exothermic welding. In this technology, Exothermic Welding Mould plays an indispensable role. Exothermic Welding Mould is the core component of the exothermic welding process. Its working principle is based on the large amount of heat energy released in the chemical reaction, which is enough to make the metal reach the melting point, thereby achieving a connection without fusion welding. The entire process does not require an external power source or heat source, and can be completed only through the chemical reaction in the mold.

In the exothermic welding process, the mold is used to position and fix the conductor to be welded, and the special welding material is poured into the welding cavity of the mold. When these materials are ignited, a violent redox reaction will occur, releasing a large amount of heat energy. This heat energy quickly heats up, melting the welding material into liquid metal. As the welding material melts, the liquid metal begins to flow and fill the space in the mold, including the gaps between the conductors. At high temperatures, liquid metal wets and diffuses with the conductor surface to form a strong metallurgical bond. This bonding method is not only high in strength, but also has better corrosion resistance and conductivity than traditional mechanical connection or welding methods.
Exothermic Welding Mould plays a vital role in the entire welding process. It provides a stable welding environment to ensure that the welding material will not leak or splash during the reaction. The precise design of the mold enables the liquid metal to be evenly distributed between the conductors to form a uniform welded joint. The high temperature resistance of the mold ensures that its structure and function are intact even under extreme conditions. Compared with traditional welding methods, exothermic welding has higher safety and environmental protection. Since the entire welding process is carried out inside the mold, no sparks, arcs or harmful gases and other harmful substances are generated, which not only reduces the risk of fire and explosion, but also reduces pollution to the environment.

It uses the heat released by chemical reactions to melt the welding materials and achieve perfect fusion between metals.
